Locations

Dublin

Dublin is where BreizhEire began, we established there a strong dynamic around our activities and places. Each year we broadcast the Cyber Fest-Noz in Dublin.

Places frequently used:

Club Chonradh na Gaeilge:
The Chonradh na Gaeilge is the Irish speaking club of Dublin centre. The Club is welcoming for several of our activities, the Cyber Fest-Noz, or other interceltic events organised commonly.
The CnG is situated on basement level (to access, go down the metal stairs) at 6 Harcourt street, next to St Stephen’s Green. It is open every day from 8.00 pm.
The Club Chonradh Na Gaeilge is a place set for speaking and practicing the Irish language.
It is therefore asked to anyone coming to this club to avoid speaking in English when possible and to use primarily Irish.
You may learn Irish as well in the upper levels of the building, or join the music sessions for beginners on Thursdays.

Monthly Breton night: music and dance sessions

The monthly session is taking place every last Friday of the month from 8.15 pm at the Club Chonradh na Geailge (6 Harcourt st.). The night is a free session for dancers and musicians, becoming a small fest-noz as well as a great socialising time within BreizhEire. Although there isn’t a formal dance class, Cécile and Christian are there to show steps to beginners, explain dances and make sure that nobody is left behind. This is the perfect time for musicians to join in for playing Breton tunes.

Breton classes:

Breton lessons are every Wednesdays at the Club Chonradh na Gaeilge (6 Harcourt st.). From 8.00 pm is the beginner’s class, followed most of the time by a song gathering every level. Then at 9.15 pm is a more of a free session for more advanced students. Classes are usually for French speakers, but English speakers are also welcome.

Games:

From May until September we organise few afternoons where we play Breton games like Breton boules and palet, together with a picnic. This is either taking place in St Ann’s Park (Plan), or next to the Malahide Castle (Plan).

Music sessions:

Breton Music sessions are happening every last Friday of the month at the Club Chonradh na Gaeilge (6 Harcourt st.), as well as during some other events. Everyone is welcome to play or sing, all instruments and levels are welcome.

Galway

Galway is the ideal town for interceltism. The twinning committee of Galway-Lorient is very active, with sometimes the participation on top of it of the association Bretagne-Irlande. Each year is organised a major Fest-Noz / Céili for St Patrick’s day.

The section of BreizhEire has increased end of 2007, following two fest-noz for the St Yves’ Day in 2006 & 2007, as well as several other fest-noz and other events organised by the twinning committee.

These classes aren’t structured but for the beginners. It is mainly a reunion of people who wish to learn the language, usually under the supervision of a fluent student. You will find there a studious and yet relaxed atmosphere, which will suit anyone used to learning freely. These weekly classes are happening usually at one of the student’s place.

Cork

This new section has just started recently following the major fest-noz which we organised for the St Yves’ day in 2008.

There are many Breton souls in Cork, so if you wish to join and take part in setting up new activities (dances & music, Breton language, games) or simply take part in one of these activities, do not hesitate to let us know.
